Tom Mank and Sera Smolen

 ·
For the past 10 years, Sheila Ossit has been our Executive Director. We took a moment to celebrate all her hard work and dedication to the CCO before our 11/8/14 concert. Incredibly, despite all the people who were in on the secret, we managed to keep the party a surprise! Many thanks to all who made contributions towards this campaign, who came to the party, and who helped us honor Sheila. Stay tuned for the second half of our "campaign" when we do a children's concert at the Ithaca library in the Spring!

Hangar Stage for a Holiday Concert

The Burns Sisters Band takes the Hangar Stage for a Holiday Concert and
CD Pre-Release December 12 & 13
Ithaca favorites The Burns Sisters return to the Hangar Theatre on December 12 and 13 at 8pm for a Holiday Concert and a special pre-release of their new CD Looking Back…Our American Irish Souls. They will be performing original songs and holiday classics from around the world. The Hangar has partnered with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and will collect donations for that organization on both evenings.

The Burns Sisters take pride in their Irish heritage and celebrate it in their music, bringing a Celtic slant to their songs and arrangements. They describe their new CD as “an inspirational look at our American Irish heritage.” The album was recorded with musicians including Seamus Egan, Joanie Madden, Blackie O’Connell, Jim Kimball, and three-time Grammy winner Stuart Duncan. CDs will be available for purchase at the Hangar concerts before being released to the general public.
Concert attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or to make an onsite donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. There is a great need for food items that support their BackPack Program, which gives children who are at risk of hunger a bag of nutritious food each Friday throughout the school year. Kid-friendly items ideal for this program include boxed macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, crackers and cheese, canned tuna/chicken, and small cans of fruit. Over 2,500 students receive packages from the BackPack program every week. While a donation to the BackPack Program is highly encouraged, any and all donations will be accepted. Patrons who make a donation will be entered into a raffle to win fabulous Hangar prizes.
Tickets for The Burns Sisters Holiday Concert start at $18 and can be purchased online atwww.HangarTheatre.org, by phone at (607) 273-ARTS (2787), or in person at the Hangar Theatre business office located in Center Ithaca on the Commons.

Subscription packages are now on sale for the Hangar’s 2015 Mainstage and KIDDSTUFF seasons! Subscriptions offer preferred seating, discounted ticket prices, ticket exchange privileges, and other great benefits. To learn more, visitwww.HangarTheatre.org or call the office at 607-273-8588.

Cayuga Chamber Orchestra's Linda Case

One week to go before Linda Case performs the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Piazzolla. Read on to see what she has to say about the piece:

Piazzolla wrote these 4 separate tango inspired portenos between 1964 and 1970 for his own quintet of bandoneon, violin, piano, electric bass and double bass. On Nov 8th, Linda Case will take centerstage with the Piazzolla

On Nov 8th, Linda Case will take centerstage with the Piazzolla, but later in the program with the Bartok Divertimento, the string principals are frequently featured together as a solo quartet. It's the perfect opportunity to introduce our new Principal Violist, Victoria Miskolczy, pictured here. Victoria has been active in the Los Angeles area for many years with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, a number of other regional orchestras and different chamber music series, and as a teacher. From Sydney, Australia (where she was born and raised) to Los Angeles, to Ithaca, NY, she's had quite a variety of hometowns. Please join us in welcoming her on 11/8 as she begins her tenure with the CCO
